    At some point, like many others, I realized that we now have the ability to do better for ourselves. In fact, we must do better if the world is still to believe America -- the Ideal, not the Brand -- is real. That America remains so much more than what has been appointed, spun and sold on our behalf. We need a different channel. A real message.

    First: cancel the cable service. Next: give away the television. Then start listening and reading again. Start connecting the pieces without concern for what form they may take. It will be your form and you must share it.

    AMERICAN-FM is essentially an experiment (like Democracy). The mission is to remain open, honest and free so that one can question everything; especially ourselves.
